About

Lee Humphrey Basketball’s mission is to make learning basketball fun and intuitive and build a love for the game. Through purposeful play, we help players develop skills, instincts, and confidence. We encourage creativity, risk-taking, and growth, ensuring our players not only play better and more instinctively but also love the game more.

Everything we do is intentional. We design our programs to maximize development while creating an environment where players enjoy the process, compete freely, and build confidence. Our goal is not just to teach skills, but to help players truly learn how to play — to become adaptable, confident basketball players who can solve problems in real game situations.

At the core of every program is a simple belief: players learn best through play. Skills stick when they are developed in live, game-like environments where players must read, decide, and act. That belief guides how we structure every drill, game, and session, and it’s built around five core principles:

1. Time on Task
Players need opportunities to experiment, fail, and find solutions. Every activity is designed to maximize meaningful reps and keep players engaged.

2. Representative Environments
Our activities reflect real parts of the game and require players to respond to defenders, space, and game situations — just like they will in competition.

3. Decision-Making
Whether working on footwork, shooting, or team play, players are always required to make decisions. Perception and action are connected, so skills transfer to the game.

4. Constraints-Based Learning
Instead of telling players exactly how to move, we use rules, scoring systems, and space to guide learning. The skills that emerge are adaptable and translate directly to live play.

5. Differential Learning
We design environments that challenge players to self-organize and adapt. By exposing them to varied situations, players become more resilient and versatile.
